Today you’re going to learn how to set up a WordPress blog in a matter of 15-20 minutes on SiteGround.

Before we start with the site set up, I wanted to discuss the benefits of owning a self-hosted site.  When you own you have the freedom to add affiliate links, banners and advertisements to your blog.  Those options are limited when you use free sites to start your blog.  If you’re serious about starting a money making blog then I highly recommend setting up your WordPress site on SiteGround. To be honest, most companies avoid bloggers who use free sites because they don’t view them as professional.

How to start a profitable blog

There are many reasons for why you may want to go with SiteGround for your WordPress blog.  I personally use them and I can honestly say I’m happy with what they have to offer.  I believe they are one of the top hosting companies for the following reasons:

  • Super easy to install your WordPress theme due their “one click installer” feature.
  • SiteGround has hardware that makes your website load 1000x faster
  • 24/7 technical support
  • You will appear more attractive to companies and advertisers because you will be self-hosted on SiteGround.
  • SiteGround is affordable. Get started with plans less than $4/month.

Step 1: Choose your hosting plan

You can click here to choose your hosting plan.  Continue to follow the easy steps below.

I recommend the GrowBig plan because for $2 more you 20GB of web space and around 25,000 monthly visits.  I know that 10,000 monthly visits seems like a lot of traffic for a beginner blogger, but it’s really not once you start implementing various strategies to grow your blog.  I surpassed 10,000 mostly visits after about 3 months as a new blogger. It’s definitely better to choose the GrowBig plan.

Step 2: Choose a domain

Register the domain you researched in step one of today’s lesson.  Double check to make sure the name is spelled correctly. If you already have a domain, take advantage of the FREE site transfer feature offered by SiteGround.

Step 3: Review and complete

For a limited time, take advantage of the FREE SSL certificate{$82 value}.  I’ve negotiated this feature specially for my audience. The only other extra service that I highly recommend is Domain Privacy. By registering a domain name, your personal information becomes publicly available through the whois services. To protect it, use Domain Privacy.
